Botanical Name: Moraea aristata    

Position: Full sun in an open, well-ventilated position.

Climate: Suitable for cool, temperate, Mediterranean and dry climates. Not recommended for tropical regions. Prefers dry summers and cool, moist winters.

Planting Time: Autumn.

Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and keep soil lightly moist during active growth and flowering. Reduce watering after flowering and keep corms relatively dry during dormancy.

Flowering Time: Spring.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser or blood and bone when growth appears. A light application after flowering will help replenish corms for the following season.

Soil: Well-drained, sandy to loamy soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils.

Pests: Generally trouble-free when grown in well-drained conditions. Protect emerging growth from snails and slugs.

Growing Tips: Plant corms at the recommended depth with the growing point facing upwards. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the corms can store energy for next season. Peacock Iris performs best when left undisturbed and grown in a sunny, free-draining position.
