Muscari — Produces dense spikes of fragrant, bell-shaped flowers in shades of blue, purple, white and pink above slender green foliage. Ideal for mass planting, borders, rockeries, pots and containers, bringing vibrant colour to the garden from late winter through spring.

Botanical Name: Muscari armeniacum

Position: Full sun to part shade.

Climate: Suitable for cool, temperate, Mediterranean and dry climates. Frost tolerant.

Planting Time: Autumn to early winter.

Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and keep soil moist while plants are actively growing and flowering. Reduce watering once foliage begins to die back and keep bulbs relatively dry during dormancy.

Flowering Time: Late winter to spring.

Fertilising: Apply blood and bone or a balanced fertiliser at planting time. A light application as flower buds appear and again after flowering will encourage strong growth and flowering the following season.

Soil: Well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Adaptable to a wide range of soil types provided drainage is good.

Pests: Protect emerging shoots from snails and slugs. Generally trouble-free when grown in well-drained soil.

Growing Tips: Plant bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards at the recommended depth. Muscari naturalises readily and can be left undisturbed for many years. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to help bulbs store energy for the following season. Divide overcrowded clumps when flowering performance declines.
